Geelong Animal Welfare Society (GAWS) is a not-for-profit leading animal welfare organisation providing best practice care, education, shelter, re-homing, and community veterinary services across the Geelong region.
GAWS was established in 1956 and take pride on delivering animal welfare and management services through the aide of generous support via the community. GAWS are seeking a Casual Community Engagement and Fundraising Assistant to join the marketing and community engagement team.

About the Role
You will be assisting the marketing team to build meaningful relationships with local communities, maintain donor databases, track fundraising progress, assist in organising events, and contribute to fundraising campaigns that support our mission.
Key Responsibilities that Support the Marketing and Fundraising will include:
- Assisting the Marketing and Communications Manager/s in their duties
- Administration of donation box audit
- Maintaining the master donation box spreadsheet
- Handling of fundraising money and donations
- Supporting the team to connect and liaise with local partners and organisations to collaborate
- Assisting the team with fundraising initiatives in the local community
- Support managing event stalls (including set up and pack down) and assist with GAWS projects
- Provide customer service to the local community who attend our events
- Assist in the preparation of content for marketing campaigns, social campaigns, newsletters and website, etc.
- Support the maintenance of the GAWS website, social media accounts and other channels where content exists.
- Ability to share ideas and innovations with the team
This is a casual position with remuneration in-line with the Clerks award and your qualifications, skills and experience.
About You
GAWS are seeking applications from candidates with a can do attitude, some experience in a similar role and who have a passion for animal welfare.
You will have excellent organisational skills, the ability to prioritise workload and work well within a positive team.
Given the nature of the work you may need to work across challenging situations which require empathy, compassion and commitment to compliance and regulations.
You will need excellent communication skills and have a strong customer service ethic.
The Musts
- Excellent customer service ethos
- Strong team focus and able to work independently
- Good working knowledge of all Microsoft applications
- Candidates with a marketing/welfare background will be highly regarded
- Police Check or willing to obtain
- Australia Drivers Licence
