Design Engineer – CATIA Specialist

About the Role

Reporting to the Engineering Services Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for utilising CATIA 3DExperience software to design and develop innovative solutions for their engineering projects. This role requires a deep understanding of engineering principles, proficiency in CATIA 3DExperience software, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

The role will ensure they meet key project deliverables while maintaining internal standards and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Utilise CATIA 3DExperience software to create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings.
  • Collaborate with design teams to conceptualize and develop new products or improve existing designs.
  • Conduct thorough design reviews to ensure compliance with specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Generate technical documentation, including engineering drawings, bill of materials (BOM), and design reports.
  • Participate in prototype development, testing, and validation activities.
  • Support manufacturing processes by providing design expertise and resolving production-related issues.
  • Stay current with industry trends, software updates, and best practices in CATIA and engineering design methodologies.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, external suppliers, and customers to address design requirements and feedback.

This is a Full Time position with remuneration commensurate with your qualifications, skills and experience. Some work outside of standard hours will be required due to the nature of additive manufacturing.

About You

You will be an experienced Design Engineer with a strong client focus and able to hit the ground running. Ideally, we are seeking candidates who have experience working in an advanced manufacturing environment or Additive Manufacturing experience.

Personal Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years’ experience as a Design Engineer with a focus on CATIA software.
  • Proficiency in creating complex 3D models, assemblies, and drawings using CATIA 3DExperience / V6 (preferred) or CATIA V5 (essential).
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, including GD&T, and materials science.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM integration and product lifecycle management (PLM) systems is preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyse and interpret technical data.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present complex ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality work within established timelines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Location

Conflux Technology is situated on the Deakin University site in Waurn Ponds, Geelong. Conflux operates on a 38-hour week, Monday to Friday, with flexible start and finish times. Due to the nature of additive manufacturing some work outside standard hours will be required from time to time.
