Geelong Animal Welfare Society (GAWS) is a not-for-profit leading animal welfare organisation providing best practice care, education, shelter, re-homing, and community veterinary services across the Geelong region.
GAWS are seeking additional Casual Receptionist/Customer Service staff to join the team providing front line support for their customers.

About the Role
As a Receptionist you’ll be the first point of contact for clients at the shelter. Your warm, professional approach will ensure an excellent experience for clients and pets, as well as support the smooth running of the busy front desk operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide friendly and professional customer service to clients in person, over the phone, and via email
- Manage visitor signins to the site
- Process payments and maintain accurate records
- Assist with general administrative tasks to support the team
- Maintain a clean, welcoming reception area for clients and visitors
- Provide back up support and assist with handling of animals as required
This is a casual position with remuneration in-line with the award and your qualifications, skills and experience.
About You
GAWS are seeking applications from candidates with a can-do attitude, some experience in a similar role and have a passion for animal welfare.
You will have excellent organisational skills, the ability to prioritise workload and work well within a positive team.
Given the nature of the work you may need to work across challenging situations which require empathy, compassion and commitment to compliance and regulations.
You will need excellent communication skills and a strong customer service ethic.
The Musts
- Excellent customer service ethos
- Strong team focus and able to work independently
- Good working knowledge of all Microsoft applications
- Familiarity with ShelterMate and Customer Logic systems is highly desirable
- Police Check or willing to obtain
- Australia Drivers Licence
