About Surfcoast Medical Centre

Located at the gateway to the iconic Great Ocean Road, in beautiful Torquay, Surfcoast Medical Centre has been at the heart of the local community for decades.

From their humble beginnings with just one doctor in the 1970s, we’ve grown into a vibrant practice with 13 doctors, proudly delivering high-quality care to generations of families. The practice also expanded and opened a specialised women’s clinic, Women’s Health Torquay, in 2023. They are AGPAL accredited and play an important role in training the next generation of health professionals. About the Role

Surfcoast Medical Centre are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Medical Receptionist to join their team in a part-time position. You will be working set full-day shifts (9 hours with a 1 hour lunch break).

You will be joining a welcoming and professional team primarily based at Surfcoast Medical Centre, with the opportunity to assist at Women’s Health Torquay when required for leave coverage. There is flexibility for additional days over time, depending on team needs and performance.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Greeting and making clients feel welcome from the moment they step through the door
  • Scheduling appointments and handling basic triage
  • Maintaining and organising patient medical files, including new registrations
  • Processing billings, payments, and managing online claims and banking
  • Managing general administration tasks such as mail, scanning, and faxing
  • Communicating effectively with doctors, nurses, and the wider practice team

About You

You will be an experienced Medical Receptionist (preferably in General Practice) looking for a part-time role with the potential for full-time hours. Being the face of the clinic you’re someone with a positive ‘can-do’ attitude who thrives in a busy environment. You’ll bring your friendly professionalism and excellent organisational skills to our practices, helping us provide a seamless patient experience for those attending our clinics.

You will possess a great work ethic and enjoy make a meaningful difference in patient care, whilst enjoying the incredible lifestyle that the Surf Coast offers.

Essential Skills & Qualities:

  • Medical reception experience in a GP clinic (unfortunately, we cannot consider applicants without prior experience)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and practice management software
  • Understanding of MBS item numbers
  • An outstanding work ethic and passion for providing excellent customer service
  • Fantastic interpersonal and communication skills
  • A professional, well-groomed appearance
  • Calm under pressure and able to multi-task effectively
  • Strong computer literacy
  • Able to work across both clinic locations
  • A current Victorian driver’s licence and reliable transport

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with Best Practice software and AutoMed booking system is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
